Obituary for Cindy Thomason

Cindy L. Thomason Age 58, of Odessa, NY, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer. Cindy is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 40 years, Jeff Thomason; and their daughters Ashley Thomason (Chris Tappan) and Alicia (Blake) Mahaney along with her grandchildren, Devon, Molly, and Emily Mahaney; mother, Mary Lou Webster; siblings Brian (Valarie) Webster, Eric (Deanna) Webster, and Bernadine Smith; father-in-law Robert Thomason and brother-in-law Don (Cheryl) Thomason. Cindy was predeceased by her father, Jack Webster and her mother-in-law, Ellen Thomason. Cindy was a teacher at Schuyler Nursery School in Montour Falls and then was a Practice Manager at Arnot Medical Services in Horseheads. She took an early retirement to fulfill her lifelong dream of taking care of her three beautiful grandchildren. Cindy enjoyed spending time at her country home, which she built with her husband, where they raised their two daughters and spent a great amount of time with their grandchildren. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, taking walks down by the pond, tending to her many flower and vegetable gardens, and vacationing at the beach. Cindy was a wonderful, generous, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. Her abundance of love, compassion, and wisdom made her an angel while she was still here on earth, where she touched the lives of so many. Her smile and laughter will be greatly missed. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen for calling hours from 4-6pm with a memorial service beginning at 6pm. A celebration of her life will take place at the Montour Falls Moose Lodge, 2096 State Route 14, Montour Falls, at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has decided to carry on Cindy’s legacy by helping families in our community who are going through serious medical issues such as Cindy did. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cindy L. Thomason Memorial, Chemung Canal Trust Company, 318 N Franklin St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891.
