Obituary for Paul A. Paradiso

Paul A. Paradiso
Paul A. Paradiso
Age 88, of Watkins Glen, died peacefully in the home of his daughter Kathryn and his future son-in-law Bill on March 24, 2018. Surrounding them, were his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by daughters, Kathryn Paradiso (Bill Grant) and Margaret Bouse (Russ); grandchildren, which his life revolved around, Sarah Paradiso, Joshua Moll (Lindsey Cochrane), Rebekah Moll (Casey Hansen), Corey Grant (Kayla Hawk), and Jacqueline Bouse; great-grandchildren, Lorelei Hill, Hunter Cochrane, and Harper Cochrane; two sisters, JoPat Wright (Jack), Mary Cook (Dave); brothers-in-law, Frank Bierline (Harriet), and Fred Bierline (Carol); as well as many nieces and nephews; and three godchildren, Mary Rose Laux, Mike Cook, and Micheal Nittoly. He was predeceased by wife Carole Bierline Paradiso; infant daughter; sister Cliss Paradiso; brothers, Jim Paradiso and Robert Paradiso; and parents, Horace Paradiso, Angie Specchio, and Lela Keefer. Paul had always found great pleasure in the community, but most of all his family. He started working at his family's business in Watkins Glen, The Snack & Shake, and then at Paradiso's Family Restaurant, where he met the love of his life. They courted, then married and began the journey of building a family. Together they raised two daughters, who were given all they needed and most of what they wanted. Their home was so kind and loving that it became the place where family and friends often gathered. The door was always open and the coffee always on. In Watkins Glen, Paul had a very successful banking career. While working he also found time to participate in the Rotary Club, serving as President. He helped with fundraisers like the spaghetti dinners and Camp Star for the underprivileged children. He was also a Lions Club member. His pride was belonging to the "Watkins Glen Tomorrow" project, in which his "baby" was helping to develop the waterfront of Seneca Lake and designing the now world-famous pier at the south end. In his retirement, he helped his grandchildren during their formative years; entertaining and caring for them with a non-judging ear. They were all the apples of his eye and will be forever grateful of his many gifts, but mostly time and encouragement. My father Paul, who I refer to as Dad and Pops, has always been by my side. From childhood where he was my playmate, to young adulthood when he helped me raise my children. In his senior years, I had the honor of having him in our home, returning the favor at the end of his glorious life. Which, by the way, could not have been possible without the loving and caring heart of Colista. He is my hero. His absence will always be felt. Our family would also like the express our deepest thanks to Dr. Ben Saks and his nurse Reagan. The family will receive friends and relatives at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home in Watkins Glen on Tuesday, March 27, from 4pm-5pm; followed by a memorial service at 5pm. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc., 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620 (or online at www.alz.org/rochesterny). You may express condolences to the family or “Light a Candle of Remembrance” online at www.RoyceChedzoy.com
