Obituary for Edwin "Buck" Voorheis

Edwin "Buck" Voorheis
Edwin (Buck) Voorheis
Age 79, of Burdett, went home to heaven on October 9, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents, Ed and Betty Voorheis, his sister Jean Pike and daughter Terri Voorheis. He is survived by his loving wife of 59+ years, Jean Voorheis, his children Coleen (Mark) Fabrizi, Lisa (Ray) Combs, Janine (Jason) Bond, Sonja (Mike) Croft and Carter (Cheryl) Voorheis, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His brothers Ted (Onolea) Herforth, Roland (Linda) Voorheis, Jim Voorheis and sisters, Gayle (Adolf Busse) Mazourek, Linda (Millard) Abbott and Carol Osborne and dozens of nieces and nephews and large extended family. He and his wife owned and operated South Hill Construction and Voorheis Farms for over 50 years. He was a lifelong resident of Schuyler County with the exception of his service in the U.S. Air Force stationed in the State of Maine where he met the love of his life. His love for his family, his friends/neighbors and the beautiful country he lived in was always top of mind and he took none of it for granted. There are no prior visiting hours. The immediate family will provide flowers for a Memorial Service to celebrate his life to be held at Reynoldsville United Methodist Church in Reynoldsville, NY at 4pm on Saturday, October 14, 2017; a private committal service will be scheduled at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Burdett Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 234, Burdett, NY 14818 or Reynoldsville United Methodist Church, 5092 State Route 227, Burdett, NY 14818. You may express condolences to the family or “Light a Candle of Remembrance” online at www.RoyceChedzoy.com. Arrangements with Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
