W. Bruce Beardsley
Age 88, of Watkins Glen, passed away April 19, 2017. He was born at home in Watkins Glen, on November 15, 1928, the son of George and Florence Beardsley. Bruce was predeceased by his parents; also brothers, Robert and William Beardsley; and brother-in-law, Willis Emmons. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Beardsley; son, Bill and wife Marlana Beardsley; and brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Marylou Haight, Carol (Robert) Everett, Walter (Edith) Emmons, Patricia (Richard) Pierce, and Jean Beardsley; and 2 grandsons, Kyle and Jarrod Beardsley. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Bruce owned and operated Beardsley Auto Parts in Watkins Glen for many years, and worked for AKZO Salt Company. He was past Fire Chief and Commissioner of the Watkins Glen Fire Department; member of the Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge #1546, Moose Lodge #426, Mechanics Club and American Legion Post #555. Bruce honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. He also served as a Village Trustee in Watkins Glen. Memorial donations may be made to Watkins Glen Fire Company, 201 N.
