Obituary for Shauna R. Simpson

Shauna R. Simpson
Shauna Rose (Moser) Simpson, 67, of Lodi, New York, passed away in the early morning hours on December 24, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of David and Evelyn (Varner) Moser, Shauna was born and raised in Hector, NY and was one of those rare individuals who touched the lives of everyone who knew her in deep and profound ways. She had a big heart, a warm and embracing spirit and the ability to make every person she met feel special. Shauna always saw the “good” in everyone and while she had a kind and forgiving nature, she was also a strong woman with absolute determination once she made up her mind. Shauna was married for over 42 years to the love of her life, Donald Simpson whose love and devotion throughout their married lives, and whose tender care during her long illness, was an inspiration and a blessing to her and her family and friends. She and Donnie loved to travel and frequently visited area casinos where they would enjoy the shows and buffets and even do a little gambling. Vacations to the Jersey shore were also a highlight in her life, but her favorite times were at home by the pool watching her family swim and play games. Friends would stop by and since she was a great cook she always had a meal at the ready. Returning to college to complete her Associates Degree in 1977, Shauna spent nearly 20 years working for Willard Psychiatric Center and caring for some of the most challenging and seriously ill patients. She loved the work and her patients and treated them with understanding and respect. In turn, she was recognized by her patients and co-workers when she received the New York State Outstanding Employee Award—a recognition that meant a great deal to her. Shauna is survived by her husband and their two sons, Donald Ryan “Butch” Simpson (Lisa) and Andrew Jason “AJ” Simpson (Kasey), step-children William “Billy” Suffradini, Peter Lee, Sabre Scranton Armstrong and Jody Scranton. She is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren Jason, Madyson, Conner, Piper, and Owen, and step grandchildren Jill, Shannon, Stephanie and Gina who all loved her dearly. Shauna leaves behind her brother, David H. Moser III (Dawn), sister, Kathy Moser Cole (Chris), and sisters-in-law, Karen Wood (Joe) and Mimi (Ronald) Simpson and many loving nieces and nephews. Shauna will be deeply missed here on this earth, but she had an abiding faith in God and we know that she is with Him now in grace and peace. Friends and family are invited to calling hours on January 4th 12pm-2pm with a service of remembrance immediately following at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St. in Watkins Glen. Online condolences may be made at www.RoyceChedzoy.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hector Presbyterian Church, 5511 RT-414, Hector, NY 14841 or the charity of your choice.
